Six months ago I decided that I wanted to publish my little memoir in Britain. On Lissa Oliver's recommendation I contacted Dale and Bob @ P2D Books Ltd. My initial conversations convinced me that I would be working with two very experienced professionals and that the final product was going to be something that I might be really proud to have done. I had clear ideas on the look of the book, its structure (I enrolled in a one-day book-binding course in Dublin to get a perspective on that aspect), typeface, size, format, etcetera, but at times questioned my own judgement to Dale who was impressively objective and non-committal, something that I came to value in him. How Much Does Book Printing Cost?
The cost of book printing with us can vary but usually this revolves around a few key factors. This includes the type of book you want to print (paperback, hardback etc), the number of pages you need, the binding style, paper stock and finally the quantity.
For example, you can order a short run of paperback books of just 10 with black and white printing, or alternatively you may choose a larger run of hardback printing in full colour with a gloss laminated cover. Naturally these 2 examples will result in varying costs.

How Do First Time Authors Get Published?
At Print2Demand we regularly work with first time authors as well as publishers and self publishers. The traditional route for a new author is to submit your manuscript to a publishing house. They’ll assess your work and market potential. If they decide to move ahead they’ll then handle the book production.
For others self publishing is a faster and preferred alternative. By self publishing the author retains complete control of the book, and with Print2Demand we can make the process easier by guiding you through every step.
As a first time author choosing to self publish you’ll need to consider aspects such as paper types, book cover design, binding and ISBN registration. Once printed you can decide where to sell your book and for how much for.

Do I need an ISBN?
I have a print ready PDF, how do I submit it?
You can either send them to us directly and we will manually process your order, or you can place the order online and upload your files that way. It’s entirely up to you and whichever you feel more comfortable with. If submitting manually, we will need the full address for the invoice, proof and final delivery. A daytime phone number is always helpful, especially for our carriers.
How do I create my book cover?
Our team can supply a cover laydown guide, with the accurate spine measurement. This will again save you time and money if it is set up correctly. Before we can advise the spine width, we will need to know what paper you have chosen for the inner, as all papers bulk differently. This can save a lot of time and money further down the line.
Can you design my book artwork for me?
Unfortunately, we do not offer book design artwork in house, but we have trusted relationships with designers we can recommend.
Do you print books in CMYK or RGB?
With print of any type CMYK will always give the best colour results. We can accept RGB but the colours are not as bright and vibrant as those in CMYK.
What is the difference between sheets and pages?
When it comes to book printing, a single piece of paper is called a leave, and each side of that leave is a printed page. So one leave equals 2 printed pages.

How quickly can you print a book?
From proof approval we require, 7 working days for softback and 10 working days for Hardback (Monday-Friday being working days).
What is the best size to print a book?
To obtain the best price, any size up to and including UK Royal 234mm x 156mm will give the best price point.
What is the minimum page count for book printing?
It’s best to go no lower than 32 pages for softback or hardback binding. Below that we would saddle stitch (two staples) through the spine to create a booklet type product.
